Agafay desert camps
Agafay camps come in three broad levels: standard tents with shared bathrooms, comfort tents with a private bathroom, and luxury tents with a proper bed, private bathroom and often air conditioning. The difference that matters most is not the tent — it is whether the camp is on its own, or one of a cluster sharing the same view and the same noise.

The question to ask before you book
Ask how many other camps are within sight and earshot. The Agafay has grown quickly and some areas now hold several camps within a few hundred metres, which means someone else’s sound system during your dinner. A modest tent in an isolated spot beats a luxury tent in a cluster, every time.
The second question: what exactly is included at dinner. Water and soft drinks are usually included, alcohol almost never, and some camps charge separately for the show.
What we will tell you
We publish the name of the camp you are going to and photographs of that camp, not of a nicer one nearby. The single most common complaint about Agafay operators is the gap between the advertised camp and the delivered one, so this is where trust is either earned or lost.

Frequently asked questions
Can you sleep in the Agafay desert?
Yes. Several camps take overnight guests, with dinner, breakfast and usually a sunrise view over the Atlas. It is the one thing a half-day trip cannot give you.
Do Agafay camps have real bathrooms?
Comfort and luxury tents have a private bathroom with hot water. Standard tents use a shared block, which is clean but shared.
Is there electricity and wifi at the camps?
Most camps run on solar with a generator backup, so there is light and charging. Wifi is patchy and often only near the main tent — treat it as absent.
