Our desert camps
We use camps at three comfort levels: standard, with a real bed and a shared bathroom block; comfort, with a private bathroom and hot water; and luxury, with a large tent, private bathroom and usually heating or air conditioning. The night sky is identical at all three. What actually differs is the bathroom, the bedding and how isolated the camp is.
The three levels

The thing that matters more than the level
How many other camps are within sight and earshot. At Merzouga and in the Agafay, some areas now hold several camps a few hundred metres apart, which means someone else’s music during your dinner. A standard tent in an isolated spot is a better night than a luxury tent in a cluster.
We will tell you which camp you are going to, by name, and send photographs of that camp. The most common complaint about operators in this market is the gap between the camp in the pictures and the camp you arrive at, and it is the easiest promise in the world to keep.
Frequently asked questions
Is it worth paying for a luxury desert camp?
If a private bathroom and a proper mattress matter to you after a long drive, yes. If you mainly came for the dunes and the stars, the standard camp gives you exactly the same view.
Are the desert camps heated?
Luxury camps usually are, which matters between November and February when nights approach freezing. Standard camps rely on heavy blankets, which is generally enough but not always.
