4-day Merzouga desert tour
The 4-day Merzouga tour covers the same route and the same dunes as the 3-day, spread over an extra night. You drive about five to six hours a day instead of nine, and you get real time at the Todra gorges and the Dades valley instead of a photo stop. From €145 per person shared.
The itinerary
- Day 1 — Marrakech, Tizi n’Tichka, Aït Benhaddou, night in the Dades valley.
- Day 2 — Dades gorges in the morning, Todra gorges with time to walk, night in Merzouga.
- Day 3 — sunrise over the dunes, a slow day at the erg, camel trek and the camp night.
- Day 4 — back to Marrakech via Ouarzazate, arriving early evening.
Who should take this instead of the 3-day
- Anyone who does not enjoy long days in a vehicle
- Families with children under ten
- Anyone travelling in July or August, when the long day is genuinely tiring
- Photographers — you get two dune sunrises instead of one
Frequently asked questions
Is the 4-day worth the extra money over the 3-day?
If long drives bother you, yes without hesitation — €50 buys three hours less road per day and an extra night at the dunes. If you are comfortable in a vehicle and short on time, the 3-day is fine.
Do you see anything different on the 4-day?
The route is the same, but you stop properly at the Dades and Todra gorges rather than passing through, and you get a second sunrise at the erg.
